Gifts from God

Did you ever want a certain toy, car, cellphone, clothes, job, relationship, or college while growing up? Yet, no matter how much you tried to be good or prayed for it you still never received or achieved it.

Recently, I was asked to help Bible tutor from James Chapter 1:1-18. Here are some key verses from that scripture:

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

12Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadow.

In James 1 Chapter 1, we learned that God doesn’t tempt us, but this darkened world will try to trip us up. We are to consider every trial pure joy because the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

In verse 5, we have the ability to ask God for godly wisdom to overcome any situation and He will provide it. From verse 12, we are taught that we need to be grateful for lessons learned from being tested.

Lastly, in verse 17, God teaches us instead of viewing the trial as a hardship, try to see it as a gift. Because maybe it is God’s way of actually saying no in order to protect you from harm’s way.

Remember, while one door closes, God will always open a better one. Most of all, share the gospel and be a blessing to others!
