Home Stretch

Yes, we are in the home stretch with less than 7 weeks away from finishing this semester. Teaching technology inside prison is vastly different than in a traditional classroom on a college campus. One must pass security’s fingerprinting, id background checks to obtain prior approval along with an in-depth interview.

The biggest challenge for students is having no internet to do research. Because there are no cellphones inside, there less distractions. I found the students there are more focused on wanting to learn more.

The students work very hard, as they must pass precollege test before entering the higher education college degree program. Many students are 1st generation to graduate. Some students will be graduating in June with their Associate’s degree.

I encourage the students to keep going for their Bachelors degree, as higher education will assist them to obtain better jobs to be able to better provide for the families. Being educated themselves, they will be able to even help their children with their homework.

I look forward to teaching more students about the ‘Fundamentals of Computers’, so they will become good digital citizens and understand how computer technology works.

2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
