MIS Week 2

This week we are studying global e-commerce and what a manager’s role is in the decision making process whether they’re working in a small business or a large corporation. We are examining the four types of MIS, which are: TSP transactional, MIS managerial DSS decisional, and ESS executive.

Due to advances in technology, there is less hierarchy communication and much more collaboration happening between levels of employees and their respective managers. There is a huge dependency on the concept of sharing knowledge in real time than not at all.

We are focusing on how business need to be more social and how this is accomplished through collaboration throughout the entire company. The biggest hurdle is removing old dysfunctional silo’s and creating a corporate culture that is accepting and conducive for online communication.

It includes training employees to be experts in social media platforms both internally and externally, establishing new company social policies and procedures. More and more companies are even allowing employees to work remotely to meet the demands of running a global online business. In business always expect the unexpected!
