This Olympics has definitely brought the issue of mental health to the forefront this year. I am glad that the athletes have the coaches and counselors they need. I especially like the athletes who are struggling with pressure of being perfect are speaking out and sharing the ways the overcome their adversities.
However, not all people have access to this kind of support because it isn’t free. I like to point out that there are local resources available out there, but it is up to you to ask and seek them out. Yes, some may need to seek a physician for extra determination through evaluation. Most, importantly, it is more than okay, not to be okay.
Though, I have found that no matter what coping skills you learn or how many people you talk to for help, the real answer is Jesus! Like the verse above, God shows us how to give our anxiety to Him. This is because Jesus truly cares for you. All you really need is to have the courage in yourself and the confidence in Jesus, that He will take care of you.
In closing, I pray for those who are struggling with unbearable circumstances that they would know they can turn to Jesus and pray for healing and extra strength. Know that the only true victory is in Christ Jesus. May God’s comforting peace be with you all!
