This week and next Digital Art students are learning Illustrator. Their first assignment is to create a logo and tag line for their website. The second assignment is to create an art board featuring different variations of their logo whether it be with changes in color, size, orientation, or by using different fonts.
What is a logo and why is branding so important?
A logo can be described as the face of a company. Quite often, it’s the first thing that a potential customer will notice about your business. A logo is much more than just an image; it is a point of recognition for clients and an important foundation for the branding of your company. It is often said that customers form an opinion about a company within seconds. A well-designed logo is an easy way to convey to potential customers that your business is professional, trustworthy, and provides quality goods or services (Source: Thinkchrysalis.com).
What is an art-boards and how are they used in graphic design?
The artboard is the “canvas” that you create your artwork on in Adobe Illustrator. You can make it any size you like, and can create multiple artboards. Illustrator is a very fluid progrsm meaning that you can move art on or off artboards (Source: Quaro.com).
Just for fun I am offering an Extra Credit assignment for students to create something scary or spooky for Halloween using any Adobe Platform. I look forward to seeing their trick or treat graphic design art creations.
