My Shadow found Dory!

Welcome Dory to my blog, as I am home socializing her for Guiding Eyes for the Blind this weekend. Dory is 8 weeks old and is the sweetest German Shepherd pup.

My dog Shadow is so excited to have a pup to play with, so far they are getting along great. Shadow keeps tabs on the pup wherever she goes.

Whoever raises Dory as a guide dog is going to be really lucky because she is so simply adorable. I am impressed that this pup has already learned some commands.

Small World, turns out both pups, Dory and Shadow, are actually related via Klinger her brother and Comet he nephew.

Dory handles steps like a champ, is super friendly, and isn’t afraid of a my big pointy ears dog.

D-Day & West Point Prayer

Thank you to those in our military armed forces who served our country 75 years ago on D-Day. Asking God to continue to bless these soldiers and their families during this time of remembrance.

I also uplift the USMA West Point cadets who were injured in today’s truck accident during summer training camp. I especially pray for the family who lost their brave soldier during this maneuver transport exercise.

I am asking God to strengthen the injured more each day, so they can return to active duty. May God grant peace and understanding to the cadet’s parents and family in the days and years to come.

Praying God continues to protect our brave men and women who served or serving at home or overseas from harm’s way.

May God Bless America the land of the home and the brave. Be sure to thank a veteran for their service.

Adjunct Professor

Do you like to teach others? I enjoy sharing my technology knowledge to local college students. It is amazing watching students grasp digital literacy and gain useful computer skills to further their educational journey and future careers.

One thing to consider is that adjunct professors are only allowed to teach no more than 3 courses per semester. You may need to apply to teach at more than one college in order to make ends meet.

The hardest issue is one college’s course and semester schedules can often conflict with another. Therefore limiting your availability to say yes, because no one can be in two places at once.

A suggestion for those who are thinking of becoming an adjunct professor is to be able to teach more than one subject to be more versatile at different colleges.

Blackboard Training

What is Blackboard? It’s a far cry from what our grandparents had to use, but basically, it is digital educational classroom software.

As a teacher, you can communicate via email students, setup announcements, create quizzes, discussion boards, post presentations or videos for learning purposes, and collaborate all online.

As a student, you can login remotely anytime to see what’s happening in class, when assignments are due, and submit it online. You can ask your teacher questions right away rather than having to wait for the next class.

The best part of Blackboard’s technology is that it actually tracks student’s grades making it way easier for both teacher and student to review their current homework assignments, due dates, and test status.

Recently, I received my certificate for completing Blackboard 101 Training from Mercy College.

Teacher Training

For June, I am in the process of completing 3 Teacher Workshops that are required for NY State Education Department, which are:

1. Child Abuse Recognition & Reporting
2. School Violence & Prevention
3. DASA – Dignity for All Students Act, which includes understanding bullying, harassment and discrimination, including indicators, early warning signs, prevention and intervention and how to interact with families of victims and aggressors.

• Know the signs of gun violence protection

Some of these cases are responsible for the vital changes in school’s today. Teachers are responsible for recognizing and reporting any changes about their students. Teachers nor students should not be afraid while in the classroom trying to gain their education. Everyone needs to learn how to coexist and respect each other for their differences.

Here are some Bible verses to remind us what God’s view is on education:

• Genesis 26:24 – Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
• Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he/she is old he/she will not depart from it.

It is obvious to me that we need to pray that God is allowed back in our schools, textbooks, and classrooms.
