Today, we hit the rail trail again. I want to keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone. My goal is to ride the entire Dutchess County Rail Trail, but the only way to do that is to get out there and actually ride. I find riding with a friend makes it way easier to bike longer distances.
We rode from the Hopewell Junction Depot to Diddell Road, which is 4 miles one way. This part of the trail includes passing by Lake Walton and further up is the Veterans Memorial Mile section. On today’s ride, we saw a regular size turtle and there was lots of people walking their pups. Finally, I was able to crush the hill at Rt. 376, as we switched bikes on the way back for a bit. So, I was able complete 8 miles.
The best part of this section of the rail trail was our starting and ending spot, which is the Hopewell Train Depot. It actually houses lots of train memorabilia from the local area. Just a quick reminder whenever biking or walking, remember to take plenty of bottled water with you, as it is important for you and especially your beloved dog to stay hydrated.
